Teaching for Latinas in Tech
Certifications are one of the great equalizers in IT. Here’s why that matters and why I’m excited to be teaching with Latinas in Tech.

Teaching for Latinas in Tech
I’ll be leading a four-week CompTIA Tech+ certification prep course through the Latinas in Tech Houston chapter, and I am all in on this one.
The course kicks off on May 2 in person and wraps up together on May 30. It is a short window, but the goal is simple: help people build real foundational IT knowledge and get them moving toward certification with confidence.
What I like about opportunities like this is pretty straightforward. Certifications are one of the great equalizers in IT. They do not care who you are, where you came from, or what your background looks like. They come down to what you know and the effort you are willing to put in.
Because for a lot of people, getting started in tech can feel overwhelming. There is a lot of noise, a lot of opinions, and a lot of unclear paths. Certifications cut through some of that. They give people something concrete to work toward. Something measurable. Something that opens doors.
Of course, having the right support along the way makes a difference too.
That is the part I enjoy the most. Being able to sit down with a group of learners, walk through the material, answer questions, and help things click. Sometimes all it takes is someone explaining it in a way that makes sense, or just having someone in your corner saying, “You’ve got this.”
That is why I enjoy opportunities like this.
It is not just about passing an exam. It is about helping people build confidence, develop real skills, and take a step forward into something new.
Looking forward to getting this one started.
